• Pencil boxes have been around for over 200 years. In the mid-1800s, pencil cases were made from silver, wood or metal.

• The very first patent for a pencil case was in the year 1946. Verona Pearl Amoth invented the pencil box. The first pencil box held 6 pencils only.

• Over the years the pencil box evolved into the school supply box.
